A teenager in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, allegedly shot and killed his mother over a PUBG/BGMI mobile phone dispute. The police investigation of the case seems to have revealed that the teen was addicted to online shooters, PUBG in particular.
The report mentions “PUBG Mobile”, a game that has been banned in the country for over a year. However, the game is most likely “BGMI”, the Indian variant of the game, which is currently one of the most popular games in the country.
The boy allegedly used his father’s gun to commit the crime and hid the body in an air-conditioned room to prevent a bad smell. However, neighbors told the boy’s father, an army officer stationed in West Bengal, about a bad smell coming from their house, and he called the police.
The boy seemingly fabricated stories for the police about a murder committed by an “electrician”, but a police investigation eventually concluded that the boy had indeed committed the crime.

“The police arrived at the scene after receiving information about the incident. An investigative team also arrived at the scene. The investigation has been completed,” said Qasim Abidi, ADCP, East Lucknow. “During the investigation, it turned out that the 16-year-old son shot his mother. An underage boy shot and killed his mother after she prevented him from playing a PUBG game.”
The police investigation of the crime revealed that the mother often asked the boy to stop playing the game, which eventually led the boy to commit the crime. The boy was reportedly taken into custody and confessed to his crime during interrogation.
Police are investigating the crime further and we are awaiting more details to update the story.
