How to comment on TikTok
Figuring out what to say on TikTok is a difficult task. But actually posting those shiny feelings (or dancing lady emoji, see above) couldn’t be easier.
1. Click on the speech bubble icon to the right of the video you want to comment on.
2. Click add a comment and enter your witty words.
3. Click send.
How to Moderate TikTok Comments
Using Hootsuite Streams, you can easily track and moderate comments on TikTok and engage your community.
To add a TikTok account to streams:
- Navigate to Streams from the main Hootsuite control panel.
- At the top left, click New Board. Then select Control my own content.
- Select TikTok Business from the list of networks and click Next.
- Select the account you want to add to Streams and click Add to Control Panel.
The stream will show all of your TikTok posts, as well as the likes and comments added to each video.

If you want some control over the chaotic comment section, TikTok offers some moderation and filtering options.

2. Select “Settings and privacy”and then “Privacy”.
3. Scroll down to the Security section and click Comments.
4. Here you can select “Everyone”(for public accounts), “Followers”(for private accounts), or “Friends”to restrict who can post comments. Also, you can select “No one”to disable all comments.
TikTok comment filter
1. Go to your profile and tap the three-line icon in the top right corner.
2. Select “Settings and privacy”and then “Privacy”.
3. Scroll down to the Security section and click Comments.
4. Under the comment filters, you will find several options:
A. Toggle “filter all comments”to leave all new comments for approval.
b. Toggle “filter spam and offensive comments”to allow TikTok to check for common offensive language or suspicious behavior and hold those comments for approval.
V. Toggle “filter keywords”to leave comments with specific keywords for review and approval. Once you enable this, you will see a box to enter the keywords of your choice.
5. You can view all saved comments by clicking “view filtered comments”.
Disable comments for individual TikTok videos

How to pin a comment on TikTok
Pinning a comment keeps that comment at the very top of the comment section. It will be the first thing people will read when they watch your video. Better make sure it’s a good gift because you can only clip one at a time.
1. Go to the comment section of your video by tapping the tooltip icon.
2. Tap and hold on the comment you want to pin or unpin, then tap “pin comment”or “unpin comment”.
3. Want to replace a pinned comment? Just press and hold on the comment you want to replace with the current one and press “pin and replace”.
How to reply to a comment on TikTok
Sometimes a TikTok comment represents a broadcast; other times it’s the start of a conversation. If you notice a comment on a video that is dying of objections, you can reply directly to the comment and start a discussion.
- Tap the speech bubble icon to view the comments section.
- Tap the comment you want to reply to. A text field will open up for you to compose the perfect answer.
- Click send. The original commenter will receive a notification that you have replied.
Another way to chat with another commenter is to tag them in a new comment by tapping the @ symbol and entering their username.
Even if you don’t have a smart answer, you can share praise for a well-made comment by clicking on the gray heart.
If words aren’t enough to convey your feelings about a particular great (or violent) comment, there’s always a TikTok video response feature.
- Tap the comment you want to reply to; a text field will open.

If your TikTok video seems suspiciously quiet, try troubleshooting.
Double check comment permissions
Go to settings, click “Privacy”and then “Comments”to double-check who has permission to comment. If “No one”is selected… fix it!
Restart or reinstall the TikTok app.
Perhaps there are comments, but the application itself is simply buggy. Try closing and reopening the app, or logging out and back in again. Bad luck? Uninstall TikTok and reinstall to see if that helps.
Check for TikTok crashes and internet connection issues.
Maybe a problem with the server? We spit here! Visit a third party site like Down Detector to see if other users have experienced the same issue. It could also be a connection issue, so check how well your Wi-Fi or cellular data is working.
Clear your TikTok cache
The cache stores temporary data for the TikTok app, but sometimes this data gets corrupted. To clear it and start over, fire up TikTok and go to your profile.

Consider the possibility of being blocked
