How to Catch Shiny Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy (explained)

The world of Hogwarts Legacy is home to many kinds of rare beasts, but how do you catch the shiny beasts? This guide will show you all the details you need to know. Let’s see how to capture these mythical rare species and make them your own pets in Hogwarts Legacy.

How to Catch Rare Shiny Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy

Before you set out on your journey to tame the Shiny Beasts, you’ll need a few things. First, make sure you have progressed to the point where you have all the items needed to tame the beasts. Let’s take a closer look at the required items and how to use them to capture Shiny Beasts.

Preparation for catching animals

The items needed to capture the beasts and return them to the Vivarium are as follows:

  • Beast Feed and Beast Petting Brush: These items can be obtained during the first Beast Class quest from Poppy Sweeting. She will also teach you how to use them.
  • Nab Bag: This item can be obtained from the Elf, Nab Bag and Loom quest. Dick will teach you how to use it during this quest.

Catching rare shiny beasts

Once you are well versed in the art of taming beasts, you can start trapping them. However, shiny beasts are just as elusive and rare as you might imagine. Nothing really indicates that this is a rare shiny beast until you catch it.

To check if the beast you have captured is shiny, go to the “Beasts”section in your inventory. Examine the beast you have captured and check if it has a yellow star next to its name, as shown in the image above. The yellow star next to the name is the only indicator of the brilliant beast. You can also examine the animal after its release in your vivarium.

Keep in mind that a maximum of 12 animals can be kept in a vivarium. Additional rooms can be unlocked in the vivarium through side quests. For more Hogwarts Legacy guides, check out our other articles.
