Snapchat now offers soundtracks for your videos

Snapchat is adding two new audio-related features. This greatly simplifies content creation.

You might not have to hesitate much the next time you need to choose a soundtrack for your Snapchat video. Indeed, Snap has introduced automatic audio features to help you create content faster. For example, sound recommendations suggest music that matches the AR lens you’re using. Use the bread lens and you will see some of the most popular bread related songs, toast and more.

Snapchat adds two new audio features

Sound Sync, on the other hand, creates videos that sync to the beat of the audio tracks in your Sounds collection. You will need between 4 and 20 photos or videos, but this can help you make a good summary of your vacation or any event without the hassle of finding the right songs.

Both of these features are already available for iOS users in the US and rolling out globally. Android users can now also use sound recommendations, but they will have to wait until March to try Sound Sync.

Which greatly simplifies content creation.

Snap clearly displays its goals. The easier it is to create videos, the more likely you are to post them on Snapchat. It is also about helping artists, as well as ordinary users. Snap’s head of music strategy Manny Adler says this is a “one-of-a-kind opportunity”for musicians to reach out to fans who will (hopefully) listen to full songs after hearing them in someone’s video.

These new features come at just the right time for Snap. The company’s numbers are rising again after a rather turbulent 2022 with 750 million monthly active Snapchat users, despite laying off about 1,300 employees last summer. While the platform is much smaller than competitors like Instagram and its 2 billion monthly active users last fall, it has to deal with competition that often replicates its features. Small additions like “Recommendations”and “Sound Sync”can help it keep growing.
