Wi-Fi 6E limited to Apple iPhone 15 Pro only?

Wi-Fi 6E can be reserved for iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Apple seems to want to emphasize functional differences.

Functional differences between iPhone and iPhone Pro may increase with the introduction of 2023 models. According to a manufacturing document obtained by MacRumors, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will benefit from Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, while more affordable models will lack it. This document, a diagram explaining the antenna architecture in the iPhone 15 lineup, shows that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will continue to use the Wi-Fi 6 standard.

Wi-Fi 6E may be reserved for iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max

Some of Apple’s latest devices, including the latest variants of the Mac mini, MacBook Pro, and iPad Pro with the M2 chip, support Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, but the Cupertino-based company has yet to roll out the feature more globally. If there really was a Wi-Fi 6E router that the device could connect to, you would experience a dramatic increase in speed and much lower latency than Wi-Fi 6. This is the potential absence of Wi-Fi 6E on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15. However, Plus shouldn’t affect most users, given that most homes and businesses are still equipped with Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6 routers.

Apple seems to want to emphasize functional differences

As MacRumors points out, in the past, Apple hasn’t limited access to the new Wi-Fi standard to the iPhone Pro. Prior to the iPhone 14 lineup, the differences between the Pro and standard models were minimal unless you had a genuine interest in photography. However, last year only the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max were equipped with the new Apple A16 Bionic chip, Dynamic Island display and ProMotion. Now it seems that the Apple brand is trying to find new ways to distinguish the Pro models from the simpler models. According to previous reports, other features may be reserved for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, including the A16 chip, a titanium case, and more RAM for multitasking.
