Diablo 4 has a variety of weapons and skills to choose from for their respective classes. But unlike previous parts, changing weapons in Diablo IV works differently. While you can equip multiple weapons for your character, switching between them depends on the skills assigned to them. So, check out our guide on how to switch weapons in Diablo 4 and use two-handed weapons.
How to change weapons in Diablo 4 (explained)
You can switch weapons in Diablo 4 using skills that use the type of weapon you want to switch to. For example, if you want to use a two-handed weapon, you must use a skill that “requires two-handed weapons”. But before changing or changing weapons in Diablo IV, you must unlock different skills for your classes. To do this, you can level up and select a skill in the “Skill Tree”section.
For example, some other barbarian skills require certain types of weapons to be unlocked. But some skills may suggest that only Physical damage is required. In such cases, you can let the weapon system choose the best weapon for those skills. You can find the type of weapon you need by hovering over the skills on the hotbar. From there, you can select the appropriate skills by equipping them on a hotkey.
So, here is how you can combine different types of weapons with your skills:
- Open the “Abilities”tab in the “Character”menu.
- Press the Skill Assignment button (or the L3 button for consoles).
- This will bring up the skills section highlighting all unlocked skills so far.
- Select a skill and drag it to the hotbar to the preferred hotkey you want to use.
Note that you can unlock more skill slots by leveling up in Diablo 4. By hovering over skills in the hotbar, you can press MMB to cycle through weapons. For consoles, you can use the X button or square to switch weapons. If you are unable to switch between applicable weapon types, it is because the skill requires a specific weapon type.
How to use two-handed weapons
Similar to the mechanic above, you can use two-handed weapons using a skill that “requires two-handed weapons”in Diablo 4. For barbarian classes, you can unlock a rage skill called Upvheal. This skill requires a two-handed weapon. When equipped, this skill automatically switches to both weapons when used.
So, hover over unlocked skills to see which one requires a two-handed weapon. Then just unlock those skills for the weapon types you want to equip in Diablo IV.
