Facebook is increasing the maximum duration of their Reels to 90 seconds

Facebook is increasing the maximum length of its videos to 90 seconds, a welcome improvement for this increasingly popular format.

Facebook Reels, these videos in a very short format, have been very popular since the advent of TikTok in particular, and the giant is well aware of this. In order to allow as many users as possible to take advantage of this, to attract more content creators, and to bring this functionality to life, today the platform decided to make a small important change.

Facebook increases the maximum duration of their reels to 90 seconds

Meta sees Reels as an important aspect of its apps, and the platform recently introduced several new features for this format on Facebook. Firstly, the social network decided to increase the maximum duration of the reels to 90 seconds against 60 before. Meta increased the Instagram Reels limit to 90 last July, but the two formats are still severely limited compared to TikTok’s maximum video length, which is currently 10 minutes.

TikTok and Instagram Reels let you sync your video to a song, and Facebook Reels will soon be able to do the same with a similar feature called Grooves. Meta explains that she uses “visual rhythm technology”and automatically syncs and aligns her movements with the rhythm of the song.

Elsewhere, Facebook will offer an easier way to create drums from your memories. You will also have the opportunity to use the most popular templates at the moment. This will allow you to make changes to your clips by switching from an existing template to your own.

Meta claims that Reels is the fastest growing enterprise format today. The number of videos read has more than doubled over the past year, both on Facebook and Instagram. The company explains that Reels shares have more than doubled on both platforms in the past six months. Since August, users can also post their videos to Facebook and Instagram at the same time.
