Sileo Team Lead Developer Amy Wilt (@elihwyma) officially ended support for the Sileo Package Manager app for the XinaA15 jailbreak tool for arm64e devices running iOS or iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1 on Saturday evening.
An announcement posted via Twitter indicates that “recent changes”are to blame, as they make it “impossible for Sileo to functionally support the XinaA15”. And also took it one step further by instead endorsing the Fugu15 Max (working title) jailbreak for arm64e devices running iOS or iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1, which is currently in public developer beta and will eventually be ready for use by the general public.
The tweet didn’t provide specific details as to why While decided to drop support for XinaA15, but a response to a tweet posted by jailbreak tweak developer PoomSmart might provide a bit more information:
As we can understand from this answer, the XinaA15 jailbreak may be trying to work as both architectures at the same time, which requires a lot of additional work from While to support it.
The tweet line also shows a pop-up that Sileo users may see when trying to use the Sileo Package Manager on a device jailbroken by XinaA15:
The move means more XinaA15 users will either have to switch to the Saily package manager or opt for the Fugu15 Max public beta jailbreak instead. Users on both sides have good things to say about both jailbreaks, so we won’t speculate which one is better.
Recent speculation has suggested that the XinaA15 jailbreak will be discontinued entirely due to all the progress Lars Freder (@opa334) has made lately on Fugu15 Max. Having said that, Sileo will be the package manager of choice for Fugu15 Max now and until its public release.
Sileo is a modern package manager that combines a beautiful user interface with performance and usability. It has effectively replaced Cydia as the default package manager, given that Cydia has not been updated to work with any firmware newer than iOS or iPadOS 14. Sileo is installed by default not only on the Fugu15 Max jailbreak, but also on the palera1n jailbreak for the chekcm8 device (iPhone X and older).
