Explanation of trace ruins in Minecraft (location and rewards)

Are you wondering what is Trail Ruins in Minecraft? Well, we can answer that question right here. The latest snapshot of update 1.20, which introduces many new features, has been released by Mojang. Among the various new additions were the trail ruins, buried structures that can guarantee valuable loot in the Archeology update. This guide will tell you about the location of the trail ruins and the rewards you can receive after finding them.

Where to find trail ruins in Minecraft

Traces of ruins can be found in various Minecraft biomes. These structures continue to naturally spawn in the following patch 1.20 biomes:

  • Jungle
  • Ocean (underwater)
  • old-growth birch forest
  • Old-growth pine Taiga
  • Old spruce Taiga
  • snowy taiga
  • Taiga

In any of the biomes mentioned above, there must be traces of ruins. On top of that, you will also find blocks like Suspicious Sand and Suspicious Gravel in these buried structures. If you get closer and inspect them, you will have the opportunity to upgrade your armor with Armor Finishing. Here are all the items you can get in Trail Ruins:

  • Wayfinder Armor Finish
  • Raiser Armor Finish
  • Shaper Armor Finish
  • Master Armor Finish

If you want to customize your armor, you will need to head to the blacksmith’s table. The Armor Finish can then be used at the table to upgrade your armor set.

The Minecraft 1.20 update is called Trails and Tales. While the full update hasn’t been released yet, Mojang recently released the 23w12a snapshot for Minecraft Java Edition. Consequently, archeology enthusiasts quickly noticed that the update also includes the Trail Ruins.

That’s all you need to do to find the trail ruins in Minecraft. We hope this guide was able to help you. If you need more guides for the 1.20 update, check out how to find Sniffer and how to find the Cherry Grove biome in our Minecraft section.
