With the official public release of iOS and iPadOS 16.4 on Monday afternoon, it seemed important for all iPhone and iPad users to remind everyone that the palera1n -c jailbreak tool does not yet support this firmware.
The team at palera1n confirmed this fact on Twitter just minutes after the fall of iOS and iPadOS 16.4, as shown in the screenshot of their tweet above.
Work is underway to support Palara1n-c for iOS and iPadOS 16.4 going forward, however there is currently no word on when this might happen. In addition to implementing initial support, the team will need to conduct testing to ensure stability.
Although the Palera1n-c jailbreak tool is based on the unpatched bootrom checkm8 hardware exploit for devices with A9-A12 chips, it is important to emphasize that there are other internal jailbreak mechanisms besides checkm8 that are not yet compatible with iOS. and iPadOS 16.4 currently. This is why palera1n-c needs to be updated to work with the latest Apple firmware; checkm8 itself is not fixed and will never be fixed.
Therefore, if you are running pre-iOS or iPadOS 16.4 firmware on your device with an A9-A11 chip, we highly recommend staying there, at least until the paleera1n team confirms support for iOS and iPadOS 16.4. Otherwise, you won’t be able to jailbreak until support is added.
