Siri can be very handy on your iPhone. Here are seven voice commands you may not know.
Siri lets you perform more or less complex tasks on your iPhone using just your voice. The command can let you send an SMS while your hands are on the steering wheel or full of flour. But Siri is capable of so much more. Apple doesn’t showcase the full capabilities of its assistant, and most of the interesting commands go unnoticed. Did you know that you can reset your smartphone with your voice? And is this just the beginning?
Easily find saved passwords for websites and apps
You can save your credentials across all your Apple devices with iCloud Keychain. On iOS, you’ll find them under Settings > Passwords, but you can access them faster thanks to Siri. Just tell Siri “Show me the password for [app or website]”and the password page in Settings will open. However, to see it, you will have to use Face ID or Touch ID.
Restart your iPhone
If you’re having trouble with your phone, sometimes a simple reboot is all it takes to get things back to normal. And it’s as easy as a voice command. If you’re on iOS 16, just say “Restart my phone”then “Yes”when prompted and voila!
Turn off the alarm
Your alarm is ringing but you can’t find your iPhone? If you don’t feel like hearing this sound for 15 minutes, you can turn it off by simply telling Siri, “Turn off my alarm.”You can, even easier, even say “Hey Siri”. This makes it possible to stop the hum instantly and permanently.
Find your loved one through the Locate network
The Find Me feature allows you to track not only your devices, but also your loved ones. If you’re tracking someone through Find My, you can use Siri to quickly and easily find out where they are. Ask: “Where is [contact name?”) and a small “Find” box will appear at the top of the screen, showing exactly where this person is located. Siri will also tell you the distance to you and the approximate address. Clicking on the window will take you to the Find My app, where you can contact the person or get directions.
Translate a word or phrase
In addition to a dedicated app, Apple Translate is scattered throughout iPhone, allowing you to quickly translate from anywhere on your device, including text messages, the browser, and using Siri. You can ask Siri to translate a word or entire sentences with your voice. For example, say “Translate ‘I have a headache, I think I’m going to bed’ to Spanish”and Siri will read your sentence to you in the original language and then in the target language. Currently 17 languages are supported.
Set reminder by location
The Reminders app is a very powerful productivity tool that allows you to be reminded of things you need to do, but you don’t have to get all the reminders all the time. You can use Siri to create a reminder based on your location. For example, if you want to be reminded to pay this bill when you get home, tell Siri, “Remind me to pay my bill when I get home.”Then, a reminder will only be provided when you return home – if you entered your address in the Contacts or Maps app.
Get directions to his car
If you’re struggling to find where to park your car, your iPhone often has the answer. Tell Siri to “take me to my car”and Siri will open the Maps app and show you how to get to her parking spot. Very comfortably!
