Tekken 8: Katsuhiro Harada Confirms Crossplay and Netcode Rollback

With crossplay and network code rollback, Tekken 8 aims to be one of the best fighting game experiences.

Players on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC via Steam will be able to easily meet up in Tekken 8’s multiplayer mode to fight in a chain of battles and gain experience:

There will be crossplay. In fact, when the previous generation consoles were released, I already offered this feature on the PlayStation and Xbox consoles. However, at the time, they disagreed with each other about their mutual interests (and the issue of P2P security) and repeatedly refused. Remember how they announced a few years ago that they were open to cross-platform play? They didn’t actually actively support third parties at the time, and the hurdles were actually quite high. There are still some problems, but things are changing.

Designed for esports, Tekken 8 will benefit from netcode rollback , which guarantees virtually no lag and optimal fluidity:

It’s already in place and it already has what you want. The reason we don’t make big announcements like crossplay is because even if we make big announcements, people like you will only say things like “waaaah! It’s normal these days.”

Beta version for Tekken 8

Accessible only to privileged individuals during private events, Tekken 8 will soon be playable via beta, according to Executive Producer and Game Director Katsuhiro Harada:

For now, we’re only doing closed alpha testing, but stay tuned for the beta.
