Twitter may soon let you hide what you pay to use the platform

Will BLU soon be able to hide that we’re paying BLU? This will probably make that little blue tick lose interest even more.

If you like the features offered with a paid Twitter Blue subscription, but don’t want to show the world the fact that you pay and are some kind of Elon Musk fan, know that there may be a solution after a while. Indeed, according to Boing Boing, developer Alessandro Paluzzi claims to have discovered that Twitter is currently testing the ability to hide the blue tick on your profile. So unless you write a really, really long tweet or some other subscriber-only Blue feature, other users may never know you’re a subscriber. However, you will still need to provide an official ID to use these features.

Will BLU soon be able to hide that we’re paying BLU?

Twitter disbanded its communications service after being taken over by Elon Musk, we don’t have to wait for an official press release on the matter. This test happens in any case where the platform has announced that it will remove account certificates that were entitled to them prior to the launch of Blue, and this is from April 1st. Last November, Elon Musk said that the pre-existing certification had led to many corrupt accounts and that it would be removed in the coming months.

There are several reasons that may explain why you might want to hide this checkbox. For example, you may not want to give the impression that your tweets represent the views of your employer. And if you have the same name as a celebrity, you might not want to confuse other users.

This will probably make that little blue checkmark lose interest even more.

However, no one knows if Twitter will make this option available to everyone. However, if the company kept moving in that direction, it could further reduce the intrinsic value of that blue tick. And on top of all that, Twitter just added gold or gray checkmarks for businesses and governments, respectively.

#Twitter continues to work on the ability to control everything related to account verification and identification by adding the ability to show or hide the blue checkmark on your profile 👀 pic.twitter.com/6uTjBON21N
