iPhone 15’s USB-C charging cable will be 50% lengthier than Lightning Cable: Leakster

iPhone 15 is just a few weeks away and Apple could announce the dates of its fall event any time now. While we wait for the official launch, rumour town is filled with exciting details about iPhone 15 series. Yesterday, we discovered that Apple might finally discard its boring, white charging cables in favour of braided, colour-matched cables, today another exciting rumour has emerged.

Rare Apple product collector Kosutami has revealed that iPhone’s charging cable will be lengthier and sturdier than before. Kosutami says Apple will use the internal layout of iPhone 15’s packaging to ship iPhone 15’s woven charging cable which will be 1.5 metres in length.

Currently, Apple offers charging cables that are 1 metre or 3.8 feet in length. Increasing the length to 1.5 metres or 4.92 feet would bring considerable change. Already many users feel that the charging cable bundled with iPhones is not quite enough in length and makes it difficult to use iPhone while charging if the charging socket is a bit far away.

Hopefully, these problems will be solved with the upcoming iPhone series.

Not only Kosutami has said that Apple is increasing the length of charging cables from iPhone 15 onwards, but Majin Bu, another Apple leakster has also confirmed this.

Majin Bu tweeted yesterday that iPhone 15’s USB-C charging cables will be 1.5 metres in length “most likely” . While posting a set of photos, Majin also said that “They will also be much more resistant than the current ones.” Ironically, the photo he posted under this tweet features a charging cable that is torn on the point where the cable connects to the USB-C charger.

From the photos, it seems that Apple is revamping iPhone charging cables altogether. It was long overdue. The new charging cables appear to be covered with a braided material, making them more durable than the current cables. Moreover, the photos also show that the upcoming USB-C charging cables are thicker than the charging cables offered by Apple with products like Macs and Apple Watch Ultra.

It is not sure yet whether Apple will bundle these braided, sturdier and lengthier cables with iPhone 15 or users will have to purchase them separately. We will have to wait until the official event to confirm the details.
