As Apple stops offering leather cases, Nomad comes to the rescue with new iPhone 15 & 15 Pro gear

Apple spent a great deal of time at Tuesday’s special event talking about the company’s ambitions for being carbon neutral and imposing the smallest footprint possible on mother nature. One of the steps that the company took in doing so was eliminating leather from its iPhone case and Apple Watch strap offerings.

While it’s unfortunate for leather lovers that there will no longer be any first-party case options, the good news for those people is that our friends at Nomad are continuing their tradition of manufacturing high-quality Horween and vegetable-tanned leather products for Apple devices, including cases and Apple Watch straps.

Nomad is out starting today with an all-new lineup of cases for the newly announced iPhone 15 and 15 Pro lineups. These include leather cases, leather folios, and TPU and polycarbonate-based Sport and Rugged cases, now all standard with anodized aluminum buttons that feel tactile and wonderful when you press them.

Here are the details:

Modern Leather Case

A classic and stylish leather case for your iPhone that features a leather backing and a TPU-based bumper to keep your handset safe from 8-foot drops and everyday scuffs.

The Horween leather version is available in black or rustic brown and can be had for $70 from Nomad’s website, while the basic non-Horween leather version is available in black, brown, or English tan and can be had for just $50 from Nomad’s website.

Modern Leather Folio

For those of you who love the lose-it-all-at-once cases, Nomad has a leather folio option too that features the same design principles as the Modern Leather Case, albeit with a front flap that can hold credit cards, ID, and money.

The Horween leather version is available in black or rustic brown and can be had for $80 from Nomad’s website, while the basic non-Horween leather version is available in black, brown, or English tan and can be had for just $60 from Nomad’s website.

Rugged Case

One of Nomad’s most popular recent releases has been the Rugged case, which provides an extremely safe barrier from the elements for your iPhone. This case features a heavy-duty TPU bumper with raised edges all around to keep your iPhone from touching any surfaces, while the colored polycarbonate backplate gives it some pizzaz.

This case offers up to 15 feet of drop protection, and its colored backplate can be paired with a Rugged Apple Watch strap of the same color. Color options for this case currently include: Black, Ultra Orange, and Atlantic Blue.

You can acquire a Rugged case from Nomad’s website for $60, or you can pay $5 more and get the Peak Design collaboration version of this case that lets you connect all your favorite Peak Design mobile photography accessories to your iPhone.

Sport Case

And for the minimalists out there, Nomad also has you covered with their Sport case, which is as thin as can be while still offering 8-foot drop protection for your iPhone. This case is built with a TPU frame and a grippy polycarbonate backplate that prevents you from losing grip of your iPhone.

Nomad’s Sport Case is available for $50 from Nomad’s website in Black, White, Super Blue, and Coastal Rock colors, allowing you to keep things super minimalist or colorful like your choice in titanium finish this year.

Likewise, you can get matching Rugged Apple Watch straps for your shiny new Apple Watch.

USB-C Accessories

While we’re at it, we’d also like to remind everyone that Apple has finally retired the Lightning connector starting with the iPhone 15 & 15 Pro series handsets, and instead transitioned to USB-C. Having said that, Nomad makes some of our favorite USB-C cables and accessories, such as their high-quality nylon braided and Kevlar-reinforced cables that range in length from 0.3m all the way up to 3m.

Not only are Nomad’s cables rugged and durable, but some of them are equipped with built-in adapters, and others have built-in rubberized cable ties to keep everything organized. These are great cables for both charging and data transfers.

These cables pair very nicely with Nomad’s USB-C power adapters, which range from 20-130W.

As a side note to all of these iPhone 15 and 15 Pro line-compatible accessories, we’d also like to let everyone know that our friends at Nomad are also proudly carbon neutral, and have been since 2020. So if you’re onboard with carbon neutrality, you’ll feel right at home with Nomad gear in your dresser, work desk, and even your pocket.
