Xiaomi MIUI 13 Global Launch: Features, Release Schedule

Along with the Redmi Note 11 series devices, Xiaomi also announced the MIUI 13 Global at today’s event. MIUI 13 Global comes with several new features – Liquid Storage, Atomized Memory, Focused Algorithm, Smart Balance, Sidebar and Widgets. However, compared to MIUI 13 China ROM, the feature list seems tiny. Xiaomi says it has developed MIUI 13 Global with the aim of improving the core experience as well as increasing efficiency and personalization. Let’s take a closer look at the MIUI 13 Global ROM features and release schedule.

1. Fluid storage

Xiaomi is adding liquid storage feature to devices with MIUI 13 Global. This is a system method for controlling how files are stored on devices. Xiaomi says that due to data overwriting on the devices, after about 36 months, the read and write speed is reduced by up to 50%, which affects the application open time. Liquid storage on MIUI 13 helps devices maintain up to 95% read and write speed even after 36 months.

2. Atomized memory

There is also a new Atomized Memory feature, which is a RAM optimization mechanism. According to the company, this takes the efficiency of RAM to a new level. This feature basically analyzes how applications are using memory and closes all non-essential tasks to ensure a smooth user experience.

3. Targeted Algorithms

MIUI 13’s focused algorithm dynamically allocates system resources based on usage scenarios, making the user experience smoother and more responsive. Focused algorithms give priority to the active application, which allows the CPU to focus on important tasks and provides faster speed and better performance.

4. Smart balance

MIUI 13 brings the Smart Balance feature, which automatically balances performance and power consumption. Xiaomi claims that the Smart Balance feature in MIUI 13 can help users extend battery life by up to 10%.

5. Smart Sidebar

Xiaomi is also introducing the sidebar in MIUI 13. The company claims that this is an effective tool that will allow users to access their favorite apps (in floating window mode) with a single swipe without leaving the current app. Users will be able to place up to 10 applications in the sidebar.

6. Widgets

Xiaomi introduces brand new widgets with MIUI 13 Global. Widgets in MIUI 13 Global seem to be inspired by iOS widgets. MIUI 13 will let users choose between 2×1, 2×2, 2×3, 4×2, and 4×4 sizes for a variety of system apps, including Weather, Security, Clock, Notes, and more.
