Waze will start showing electric charging stations on its maps

Waze will be showing electric charging stations on its maps much later than Google Maps.

One of the challenges EV manufacturers face today is that they must also contribute to a network of charging stations for these same vehicles if they want to be able to sell them. Although there are many gas stations today, stations with electric vehicle charging stations are much less common today. Simply put, owners of such vehicles need to be careful when planning long trips if they don’t want to fall into the trap of a dead battery. Waze will make the job easier.

Indeed, if you use the Waze mapping service, you will soon be able to search and view electric charging stations on its maps. Until now, users have already been able to view gas stations on Waze maps and routes. Now it will be possible to install electric charging stations. Certainly a very welcome update for EV owners.

After Google Maps

“This is an incredibly exciting time for Waze as Volkswagen adds its electric charging stations to our map for the first time ahead of the always busy holiday season – the end of the year,” said Waze Industry Director Jeffrey Kohl. Volkswagen is helping to shape how an electric vehicle wants to look on the Waze map, and we look forward to highlighting the wide range of power stations available in the United States as more brands move towards an electric future.”

That said, Google Maps already has electric charging stations, and given that Waze is owned by Google, it’s no surprise that the feature has made its way into the app. However, one could understand why it took so long to take advantage of it.
