Huawei has unveiled a new foldable smartphone in China. Huawei P50 Pocket is the latest smartphone in the foldable category. Unlike the Mate X series, the P50 Pocket has a folding phone mechanism similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 888 processor. Although the device has top-notch specs, it lacks 5G network support. The phone is currently available in China. There is no information about the release of the device in other markets yet. Cost of Huawei P50 Pocket

Huawei P50 Pocket unveiled today in China costs 8988 yuan. The variant offers 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. There is also a premium Gold Edition with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, priced at RMB 10,988. The phone is also available in Black, Diamond White colors.

Specifications and features

The P50 Pocket has a 6.9-inch 2790 x 1188 pixel foldable display and a camera cutout at the top center. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a 21:9 aspect ratio. It also has a 300Hz touch screen sampling rate and displays up to 10.7 billion colors.

There is a tiny 1 inch protective screen on the outside, which is quite useful for checking notifications, date, time, etc.

Under the hood, the phone has a Snapdragon 888 SoC with 4G network support. The phone has up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal memory. It packs a 4000mAh battery with support for 40W fast charging.

The foldable phone features a triple camera setup on the back with a 40MP main camera sensor and a 13MP ultra-wide sensor. It also features a 32-megapixel ultra-high spectrum sensor. When folded, the device measures 15.2 mm and weighs 190 grams. When unfolded, the size of the phone is 7.2 mm. It doesn’t have Google Mobile Service, instead it runs Huawei’s HarmonyOS out of the box. At the moment, nothing is known about the launch of the device outside of China.
