OnePlus launched the OnePlus Nord line back in 2020 in the $270-475 segment. Now, a report by 91mobiles, in collaboration with Yogesh Brar, claims that the company plans to enter the sub-$270 segment with the upcoming Nord series phone. The OnePlus Nord CE is currently the company’s cheapest phone, starting at $311. The report also reveals that the company will make a final decision on the upcoming budget phone sometime in the second quarter of 2022.
The OnePlus Nord budget phone will offer a 90Hz AMOLED display and a 50MP camera!
The upcoming budget phone of the Nord series will be sold in 90Hz AMOLED. In addition, OnePlus will include a high-resolution 50-megapixel sensor as the primary sensor on the device. In addition, the upcoming budget device of the Nord series may be equipped with a MediaTek chipset with 5G connectivity. This means that the phone will have a MediaTek Dimensity processor installed.
91mobiles also says the phone is in early development so they can’t get more details on the specs. Yogesh reveals that this OnePlus budget phone will be released after the OnePlus Nord 3, just in case OnePlus decides to go ahead with the budget phone plan. Hence, we shouldn’t expect the phone to go official until July 2022.
In case OnePlus decides to go ahead with its plans, it will be the third Nord series phone to launch in 2022. OnePlus already has budget phones like the Nord N100 and Nord 200 5G.
For those who don’t know, the company is said to launch the OnePlus Nord 2 CE sometime next month in the Indian market. The Nord 2 CE is said to offer a 6.4-inch 90Hz AMOLED display and a 64MP triple rear camera setup. The Nord 2 CE will use a MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor and will be equipped with a 4500 mAh battery. It will also support 65W fast charging.
