Saints Row Reboot Delayed: The Game Will Release In August 2022 Instead Of February

One of the biggest surprises of the year, Volition has unveiled a new Saints Row game that will take the series back to its street gangster roots rather than the intergalactic presidential adventure it has become. The Saints Row reboot was well received by players, and it looked quite interesting as it had a lot of the original flair of the first two games.

The game is set to release on February 25, 2022, but Volition’s Chief Creative Officer Jim Boon recently released a statement informing fans that the game will be delayed until August 2022. The new release date is August 23, 2022. Boon stated that the team just needed more to create a game that would live up to studio and fan standards.

The Saints Row reboot will release on August 23, 2022.

In the same statement, Jim Boon assured fans that the delay does not mean any changes will be made to the story or characters introduced up to that point. He also mentions the impact of COVID on the studio’s schedule, and how the size and scope of Saints Row simply requires more time in the oven.

While the delay isn’t exactly happy news, it’s good that the team will spend more time polishing the experience before launch day. As the saying goes, rushed play rarely ever results in a fantastic launch day game, and will forever remain a disappointing title in the eyes of gamers.

So Volition’s commitment to Saints Row means that the game and fans will ultimately benefit from the extra weeks spent on development. On top of that, it could also mean removing any concerns about crunch in order to meet the original release date.
