Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring download sizes leaked ahead of launch

Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring are two of the most anticipated games of the coming year, and it looks like their download sizes have been announced ahead of time. PlayStation Game Size is investigating the PlayStation Store backend to determine the size of downloadable games before launch, and it looks like Horizon Forbidden West is going to be a huge game to download.

The PlayStation game size has been pretty accurate so far with their data mines, and they’ve revealed that Horizon Forbidden West on PS5 will be a 96,350GB download without the Day 1 patch. Elden Ring, on the other hand, will be relatively smaller, with a 44,472GB download, also without the Day 1 patch.

Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring uploaded dimensions revealed

According to PlayStation Game Size, players will be able to pre-download Elden Ring two days before launch, which is February 23rd. Players who pre-order Horizon Forbidden West will be able to pre-download the game on February 11, 2022, approximately a week before launch.

Horizon Forbidden West, from what we’ve seen so far, looks like a fairly expansive game with a giant map and a lot of deep game systems. So a nearly 100GB download seems quite reasonable. An additional warning from PlayStation Game Size suggests that some games in the database back end are larger than the actual space they occupy on the console (by about 10-20 GB).

Elden Ring, on the other hand, has a decent 45GB download, which is significantly more than other FromSoftware games on the PlayStation. This is primarily because Elden Ring seems to be the most expansive version of the soul-like gameplay formula. These are the two biggest games on PS5 and all eyes will be on Guerilla Games and From Software from February 2022.
