PUBG developer Krafton wins $10 million lawsuit against cheat makers

Krafton and Tencent Gaming, the global publishers and developers of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), have won separate US and German lawsuits against developers of cheating tools in the game.

The litigation awarded the developers of PUBG and its related games a total of approximately $10 million, as well as a mandate to disclose the process by which said cheats were built into the game.

PUBG title developers will reportedly use the damages paid by cheat developers to create new technologies that further prevent such cheat tools from being created. Krafton is increasingly fighting against cheating methods in the game to make it more competitive.

Rick Lee, the game’s producer, said in a statement: “Millions of players around the world use PUBG Mobile and we will ensure a level playing field for everyone. Unfortunately, the actions of hacker groups undermine the integrity of the game. These judgments clearly show that we will not tolerate deceit.”

Fight against cheating in PUBG games

Krafton has begun publicly announcing players who use cheating tools and tactics in the game. The publisher publishes the lists of cheating players on the official BGMI blog and states that the mentioned players on the banned lists are permanently banned from the game – and there is no way to lift these bans.

Taking it one step further, Krafton has also started to implement device-level bans for users who are found to be using cheating tools in the game. Device-level bans are one of the latest tactics to reduce the number of cheats in the game.

PUBG and its subsidiaries are looking for further ways to improve ways to reduce the amount of cheating in the game in order to make games more transparent. It is reported that the last court payment will be used for the same.
