Rey Mysterio on the cover of WWE 2K22, coming to pre-order soon

It looks like the cover art for the upcoming WWE 2K22 has been leaked ahead of time and it features former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio. The leak comes from Nils Ahrensmeier, who had a series of accurate leaks prior to the official release from publishers and developers.

Not only was the cover leaked, but early details about pre-order bonuses were also leaked. According to the leak, pre-order bonuses will include items like the Undertaker’s Immortal Pack. The Immortal Undertaker Pack includes 3 additional Undertaker skins. These include the likes of Phantom Mask ‘Taker, Lord of Darkness ‘Taker and Boneyard Match ‘Taker.

Also, pre-orders for WWE 2K22 are likely to open soon and it looks like the game will be cross-generational, meaning it will be available on both the latest generation consoles and next generation consoles.

WWE 2K22 PS5 cover leaked ahead of imminent pre-orders

The game was previously scheduled to release in late 2021, but 2K Interactive ultimately decided to delay the game’s release. The game is currently due out in March 2022.

Rey Mysterio’s appearance on the cover of WWE 2K22 is really no surprise, mainly because the game will feature a career showcase for the superstar. Typically, superstars featured in the WWE 2K game showcase grace the covers of said games. This has been a trend that 2K has followed in past games in the franchise.

After a couple of lackluster releases in the series, fans are hoping that perhaps 2K22 is the title that will turn the entire series around. The upcoming game has been confirmed to feature much-requested game modes such as the fantasy GM mode, so maybe WWE 2K22 has a shot at becoming a fan favorite in the series.
