Don Hall (Big Hero 6, Raya and the last dragon, Moana) is the director of Weirdworld. He explains that the film is a tribute to pulp magazines, popular novels from the first half of the 20th century printed on inexpensive wood pulp paper: “I loved reading old issues of pulp when I was growing up. These were great adventures where a group of explorers could discover a hidden world or ancient creatures. They have become a huge source of inspiration for this new Disney cartoon. ”

Note that Quy Nguyen, who co-wrote Raya and the Last Dragon with Don Hall, is returning to co-write Strange World. Roy Conley (Big Hero 6, Tangled, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure) – Producer Finally, the animated film is slated for November 23, 2022, coinciding with the release of Fabelmans, a semi-autobiographical drama about director Steven Spielberg’s Arizona education.
