Unreal Engine 5: Fortnite is the first game to use the new version of the graphics engine

Epic Games announces that Fortnite is now powered by the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine.

After using Unreal Engine 4 since the launch of Battle Royale in 2017, Epic Games has finally updated Fortnite to the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine. This change comes at the same time as Chapter 3, Flipped, which introduces several significant changes to the game’s island. Although Epic Games promised to bring Fortnite to Unreal Engine 5 in 2020 in 2021, many have speculated that COVID-19 forced the American studio to push back its schedule, but it was just waiting for the good and the bad to do something according to the rules of the art.

With the arrival of Chapter 3, @FortniteGame development has flipped to Unreal Engine 5.

We’re excited to share this journey with you and are working to make this the best experience possible for the entire Fortnite community.

Epic Games first introduced Fortnite a first-person mode that allows you to use the camera while aiming with one of the new Chapter 3 weapons that could potentially be improved in the future. In addition, mobility maneuvers have been added that allow players to glide for increased speed and avoid enemy fire, as well as the ability to navigate the new map using Spider-Man’s web launchers.

Fortnite, the first effects of Unreal Engine 5

Epic Games showcased new weather and environmental effects in the Fortnite Chapter 3 trailer, with the addition of lightning and tornadoes that could draw players in. However, this chapter currently only seems to include tree trunk destruction, with others likely to appear in future seasons when the game runs on Unreal Engine 5.
