One of the fairly recurring criticisms from users of the Apple ecosystem until a few years ago was that the iTunes app was too cluttered. This led the American giant to redistribute iTunes a few years ago into various separate apps for music, podcasts, etc. It looks like Apple has learned from its mistake with iTunes, and today the company can develop an app dedicated to classical music. This is at least what the code found in the APK file by the 9to5Google teams has to offer.

The Android Apple Music app code makes a reference to “Apple Classical”. Obviously, very little is known about this. It may not even be a dedicated app for classical music. However, in 2021, the Cupertino-based company acquired Primephonic, a classical music streaming company.

The company’s app was subsequently shut down and users were ordered to use the Apple Music service until the new app was ready. This made me wonder if Apple Classical could just be the replacement app that classical music fans have been waiting for.

In any case, it’s hard to say that the Apple brand launches a specific app for every music genre. This initiative may exist to cater to Primephonic subscribers who want simplified access to classical music without having to browse the entire Apple Music catalog.
