Krafton, the publisher of the Indian version of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile, announced that a total of 2 million players were banned from Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) in January 2022. as of January 2022 has banned over 70,000 players caught cheating in the game. The move comes as Krafton continues to pursue players who violate the rules of fair play despite repeated warnings.
“Ensuring a fair gaming experience has always been a priority for Krafton, and the company is taking strong action to ensure a fair and unhindered experience for players,”the company said in a statement announcing the ban.
BGMI lists reasons for ban
According to Krafton, the company is monitoring in real time gamers suspected of using illegal methods to gain an advantage in the game. It also states that in cases where such illegal actions are detected, players will be subject to a permanent ban.
The company’s description of the reasons for the bans states: “A device ban will be implemented if a player is found using illegal tools on any device. Under the new security logic, the device will be permanently prevented from using BGMI. An effective cheat detection and blocking mechanism will also be used to track cheaters in real time and block players using illegal methods.”
Crafton also states that among the high-profile players in the game, the company applies manual screening to identify those who promote the use of illegal tools in the game. The company is also partnering with YouTube to identify and block channels that promote in-game cheating.
In January 2022, Krafton and Tencent Gaming won a federal court decision in the US and Germany against a company that uses cheats in the game. The company received a $10 million reward, as well as a promise from the cheat makers to partner with the company to help them create anti-cheat tools.
