eBay may soon make paying with cryptocurrencies possible as the platform hopes to attract even more Gen Zers.

The popularity of cryptocurrencies is only growing. You must have lived in a cave for the last few years not to realize this. More and more companies are entering this market, or at least implementing solutions that allow their customers to use their cryptocurrencies as a means of payment. Those who shop frequently on eBay may be interested in today’s news.

eBay may soon allow payments in cryptocurrencies

According to an interview given to TheStreet by eBay CEO Jamie Iannon, it looks like support for cryptocurrencies as a form of payment on the platform could be coming soon. In his own words, “we have just completed the transition to the payment processing capability, now we can directly process $85 billion in volume on our platform. This gives us the opportunity to open up new forms of payment.”

A platform that wants to reach even more Gen Zers

Jamie Iannone doesn’t mention crypto directly, that’s a fact, but the CEO makes it clear when he says the platform is trying to make itself more appealing to Generation Z. “We supported Google Pay and Apple Pay. We have a partnership with Afterpay in Australia which is a very popular Gen Z platform and it is a buy now pay later trading platform.

The eBay boss clarifies that crypto payments are not supported on the platform at this time, but more details are due on March 10, when a number of topics, including payments, are expected to be discussed. For those who have a crypto wallet, this can be a good opportunity to spend them.
