Honda partners with Sony for electric vehicles

A joint venture between Sony Group Corporation and Honda Motor Company is established.

This alliance is designed to combine the mobility development capabilities, body technology and aftermarket management experience cultivated by Honda Motor Company over the years with Sony Group Corporation’s expertise in imaging, sensor and telecommunications development and application., networking and entertainment technologies to achieve a new generation of mobility and services that are closely related to users and the environment and continue to evolve in the future.

It is expected that sales of the first Sony Vision-S model will start in 2025.

The Sony and Honda joint venture is expected to plan, design, develop and sell electric vehicles, but will not own or operate manufacturing facilities. Thus, Honda will be responsible for the production through its factories. The mobile services platform is expected to be developed by Sony through its subsidiary Sony Mobility and provided to the new company.
