Krafton announces BGMI Open Challenge and Pro Series tournaments

Krafton, the publisher of the popular battle royale title Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), has announced the start of a new semi-professional gaming tournament in India. The same will be organized into two levels, the first of which is called the BGMI Open Challenge. Beyond this level, players will battle it out in the BGMI Pro Series, at the end of which one winner of the game will be chosen. Registration for the tournament starts on March 14th and the final prize pool is 75 lakhs.

BGMI Open Competition: How It Works

The BGMI Open Challenge is a continuation of the BGMI India Series tournament that Crafton hosted in 2021. To begin with, registration will begin on March 14 and will last until March 27. all those who register for this tournament, of which a total of 512 teams will be selected for the first round of the BGMI Open Challenge.

In the second round, 256 teams, or the direct winners of the previous round, will face each other. This round will be played in a round robin format from which the top 64 teams in the BGMI Open Challenge will be announced. The next round, or third round, will be the final round of the Open Challenge, in which the competing teams will go head-to-head to be among the 32 finalists.

At this stage, Crafton initiates the BGMI Pro Series tournament. In this segment, the 32 winners of the BGMI Open Challenge will take on 32 “professional”teams invited to the Krafton tournament, and this entire round will be played in a round robin format. According to Crafton, the last 16 winners of this round will play each other in a grand final where the winning team will win “at least”Rs 75,000.

The tournament suggests that along with the 75 lakh prize pool, various smaller rewards will also be scattered throughout the tournament. The BGMI tournaments mark one of the largest official esports competitions that Crafton has hosted for the game in India to date, bringing together both challengers and established teams and players on the same platform.
