Netflix is working on a mobile video game and series adapted from Exploding Kittens, featuring big names in the animated series.
There are certain games that are remembered for a very long time, there are games that are played for a very long time after they hit the market. And this is true not only for video games. Board games, for example, can have a huge lifespan and be passed down from generation to generation. Today it is a card game that is about to return to the scene. Exploding Kittens will soon be eligible for a new mobile video game and series, all courtesy of Netflix.

If Exploding Kittens is still a part of your life, game nights with family or friends, then Netflix has some very good news for you. The streaming platform will feature an “exclusive”version of the mobile video game as well as an animated series. This adult-oriented project will be created by card game creators Alan Lee and Matthew “Oatmeal”Inman, as well as other notables such as Mike Judge. We’ll even find some famous personalities like Lucy Liu (Kill Bill) or Tom Ellis (Lucifer).
With big names in the cast of this animated series
The series will develop around a holy war in which God and the Devil come to Earth in the form of big domestic cats. The first episodes won’t be available on Netflix until 2023, but the mobile video game should arrive as early as May, with two new maps and the promise of seeing some elements directly taken from the series coming in the future.
Netflix says this is the first time it’s releasing a video game and series from the same franchise (Stranger Things doesn’t count, obviously). And even if the game wasn’t developed from scratch, the company hints, not very subtly elsewhere, that it might resume this simultaneous development strategy in the future. In other words, don’t be surprised if a new series comes along with a new game.
