Vivo X80 series launch date confirmed

Vivo will launch the X80 series in China on April 25th. The company revealed the official design of the X80 series ahead of the launch. The images confirm that the vanilla X80 will feature a curved display. It will have a cutout at the top center and minimal bezels at the top and bottom.

It is expected that the device will be released in three colors – blue, orange and black. At the top of the rear panel is a huge rectangular block. At the top of this block is a circular camera module that houses a three-chamber setup. The phone is rumored to have a 50-megapixel main camera sensor and may use the Sony IMX866 sensor. Along with the main camera, the phone will feature a 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 12MP portrait lens with 2x optical zoom. The hole-punch cutout is expected to house a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.

Design images also show that the phone’s volume and power buttons are on the right edge, meaning the left side will stay flush.

In addition to the base model, the company is also expected to launch the X80 Pro and X80 Pro+. The X80 Pro moniker has been confirmed by a leaked banner uploaded on Twitter. This shows that the phone will also be released in orange and blue colors.

There will be a quad-camera setup on the back of the phone. It will likely have the same camera setup as the X80, with an additional periscope camera supporting 5x optical zoom. On the other hand, the X80 Pro+ is rumored to feature a 50MP main camera sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 50MP telephoto lens, and a 50MP portrait camera sensor.

Vivo has confirmed that the X80 series will feature the Samsung GN5 sensor, although it is unknown if all three devices will feature the same main camera. As mentioned above, there are rumors about the X80 series with a Sony IMX866 sensor. In addition to this, the phones will come with a custom-designed Vivo V1+ chip.

All three phones are rumored to feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. Rumor has it that the X80 and X80 Pro are equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC, while the Pro+ model may have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Finally, all three phones will run Origin OS Ocean based on Android 12 in China.
