Based on the bestselling novel by Lauren Beukes, The Shining Girls follows Kirby Mazrahi, a Chicago newspaper archivist whose career ambitions have been put on the back burner after a traumatic assault. When she learns that a recent murder reflects her own case, she teams up with seasoned but troubled journalist Dan Velasquez to uncover the identity of her assailant. When they realize these cases are intertwined, their personal traumas and Kirby’s blurry reality keep their attacker one step ahead.

The first three episodes of Shining Girls will air exclusively on Apple TV+ on April 29.

The Shining Girls is adapted for television and produced by Silka Louise, who is also the showrunner. Elisabeth Moss is the protagonist, director and executive producer of Love and Squalor Pictures along with Lindsey McManus. Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson and Michael Hampton are executive producers via Appian Way. Michelle MacLaren directs and executive produces with Rebecca Hobbs for MacLaren Entertainment. Finally, Dinah Reid is directing and executive producing. Screenwriter Lauren Beukes and Alan Page Arriaga also serve as executive producers.
