This is why Oppo Reno 8 with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and 120Hz OLED display could be aggressively priced

Oppo usually follows a 6-month update cycle for its Reno series devices. It has been almost six months since the Oppo Reno 7 series was introduced in China, and rumors and leaks related to the Oppo Reno 8 series have begun to appear on the net. The Oppo Reno 8 series is expected to consist of three devices – Oppo Reno 8 SE, Oppo Reno 8 and Oppo Reno 8 Pro.

Recently, a design render of the future device of the Oppo Reno 8 series appeared on the network, but it turned out to be a fake. Now, a new leak from renowned Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station reveals some of the key specs of the upcoming Oppo Reno 8. The specs leak suggests that the Oppo Reno 8 will bring significant improvements over its predecessor, the Oppo Reno 7.

Let’s take a closer look at what the Oppo Reno 8 has to offer us.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1!

The latest Oppo Reno 8 leak reveals that the phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor. If true, the Oppo Reno 8 could very well be the first phone to feature a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor.

For those who don’t know, Qualcomm at Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021 announced a new naming scheme for its line of processors, and the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 will be the first 7-series processor to feature the new nomenclature.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 in the upcoming Reno 8 could be paired with the fastest available memory and storage i.e. LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1.

120Hz OLED display!

The display is another segment where the Reno 8 series can greatly improve on its predecessor. For those who don’t know, the Oppo Reno 7 series devices including the Oppo Reno 7 Pro priced at Rs 39,999 offer a 90Hz AMOLED display panel, which is definitely not enough for this price since some devices in the Rs 20,000 segment offer 120 Hz. AMOLED display.

It looks like Oppo is fixing this flaw with the Reno 8 series. The latest leak suggests that the Oppo Reno 8 will come with a 120Hz OLED panel. It is rumored to be a 6.55-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. The display panel will also make room for an optical fingerprint scanner.

Fast charge 80W!

The Oppo Reno8 is said to come with a 4,500mAh battery, the same capacity as the Reno 7. However, this time around, the brand will bring much faster 80W fast charging compared to the 65W SuperVOOC on the Reno7 series devices.

The cameras are the same as the Oppo Reno 7 Pro!

Rumors surrounding the Oppo Reno 8 suggest that the phone will feature a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor. The high-resolution sensor on the upcoming Oppo Reno device is said to be accompanied by an 8MP ultra wide-angle lens and a 2MP auxiliary sensor. For selfies, the phone can use a 32-megapixel Sony IMX709 sensor.

Exactly the same camera setup we have already seen on the Oppo Reno device – Oppo Reno 7 Pro. This means the vanilla Reno 8 could come with an impressive camera setup.

With improvements across the board for the Oppo Reno 8, the company is expected to aim for an aggressively priced device with the intention of pushing back the competition it has in this area.
