Zoom assures that the bug with an active microphone does not transmit any audio data.

Zoom confirms that the microphone bug does not convey any idea and that it has also been fixed since the end of January.

A few days ago, we learned that macOS users are reporting a bug in the Zoom app on their computer. After the call ends, the active microphone indicator remains active. Logically, this has led some to fear that audio continues to be transmitted even after the call ends, and the microphone should normally be muted.

Zoom confirms that the microphone error does not give a clue

The good news is that after these reports came to attention, a Zoom spokesperson stated that according to their internal investigation, this bug did not transmit any audio data to Zoom’s servers. The company also clarifies that this bug was fixed on January 25 in version 5.9.3.

The update released at the end of January does not mention a fix for this issue, so there is no way to know if the company has fixed the issue or not. Especially since Zoom released an update in early December 2021 that was supposed to fix this bug. Unfortunately, Mac users have noticed that it is still present.

According to a post on the Zoom community site: “We have encountered an issue affecting the Zoom client for macOS that may cause the orange light to stay on even after an audio or video call has ended. This bug has been fixed in version 5.9.3 of the Zoom client for macOS and we recommend updating to this version 5.9.3 to take advantage of this fix.”

Hopefully, this problem is now truly a thing of the past for macOS users and that this kind of problem won’t happen again. Privacy is very important today, the service is now so popular that it has something to lose.
