Apple is expected to release the iPhone 14 line in the coming months. A couple of months ago, renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that only the iPhone 14 Pro models will get the new A16 chip. While the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will run on last year’s A15 Bionic processor. Now a new TrendForce report confirms the same.
The research firm says Apple will introduce 4 models this year. However, this time the brand is said to be introducing a new Max model to replace the Mini model. A TrendForce report says the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will get the A15 Bionic chip, but this time Apple will add 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM to the non-pro models. For those who don’t know, Apple uses 4GB of RAM on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini.
The reason why Apple is using the A15 on the iPhone 14 models is not clear. However, analysts believe that this could be due to a shortage of chips. Because of this, Apple is prioritizing the Pro models, keeping the new chip exclusive to them. Apple did something similar last year using the more powerful A15 Bionic on the iPhone 13 Pro models.
For those who don’t know, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max feature the A15 Bionic with an integrated 5-core GPU and 6GB of RAM. Whereas, the A15 Bionic used on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini has a 4-core GPU and 4GB of RAM.
Renders of the iPhone 14 Pro have recently surfaced online, showing that Apple is finally updating the display bezel, and the notch that Apple introduced in the iPhone X back in 2017 is finally disappearing. Instead, Apple will introduce a new double-punch, pill-shaped display design with a round hole.
