Meta Horizon Home Coming to Quest 2 Headsets Next Week

Horizon Home is coming to Quest 2 headsets next week to get more done with your loved ones in a virtual environment.

Virtual reality is still in its infancy, but there are many players in this market, and at least we can say that there is no shortage of ideas. Especially when we are aware of the growing interest in the metaverse. This is the reason Facebook renamed itself Meta. And very soon Quest 2 helmet owners will be able to go even further.

Horizon Home is coming to Quest 2 headsets next week

Starting next week, Meta will add a social space to its Quest 2 headset. Horizon Home, which Menlo Park announced during Oculus Connect last year, will appear when users put on their headsets, in virtual reality. They can then invite their friends to spend time together, watch videos, or play together. It’s all part of Meta’s vision of a metaverse, a shared virtual space where people can do a lot of things together, along with Horizon Worlds and Horizon Workrooms.

To do more with your loved ones in a virtual environment

Among those possibilities, as shown in a video shared by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, is watching 360-degree videos with friends. Mark Zuckerberg demonstrated this feature with climber Alex Honnold, shown in the documentary Free Solo. Together they watched “Soloist VR”- a film about an athlete climbing the Dolomites. If you ever thought that the cut-off torsos of the Meta’s avatars look rather odd in a virtual environment, wait until you see two of them hovering 300 meters above the ground in northern Italy.

Quest 2 owners can check out Horizon Home right now if they’re willing to use the public test channel. Meta will officially release the Quest v41 update, which includes Horizon Home, sometime next week, a company spokesperson told Road to VR. Then we can find out all the details about this Horizon Home. Meta will add more customization options over time.
