Can you check who viewed your Instagram profile?

If you have used LinkedIn, you may have noticed that the social media platform notifies you whenever someone visits your profile. Have you ever wanted to see this feature on Instagram too? Well, the answer is yes and no! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Read on to see if you can check who viewed your Instagram profile!

Is there a way to know if someone is following your Instagram profile?

Unfortunately, there is no official way to find out who has visited your Instagram profile. Because Facebook Meta has always been in the dark about the use of user data, the company doesn’t want the same to happen to Instagram and has put in place strict policies to protect user data.

Hence, you won’t be able to see profile viewers even with third party apps. According to Instagram’s data policy, it only shares the username, username, biography, profile photo, and email address with unverified third-party apps and nothing more than profile visitors.

This means that you should not trust your Instagram login credentials to apps and websites that claim to help you find who has visited your profile. And for your safety, I risked my data on some of these apps and websites to verify their claim! Undoubtedly, they disappointed. Instagram blocked some apps from accessing my account information and others were displaying incorrect data.

What’s more, some apps even wanted me to let them track my activities on Instagram and on my phone. All this was enough to silence the curious me. So, there is no way to know who has visited your Instagram profile, you ask? Well, yes, there is, and I will only mention the official and safe ways.

An indirect way to check who is viewing your Instagram profile through history

The best way is to check who has viewed your Instagram stories. Because whenever someone visits your profile, they either accidentally click on your profile picture or check your history. In both cases, Instagram will let you see who has viewed your story (unless your account is private); this way you will know who visited your profile.

But this method has its drawbacks. Chief among them is the inability to know who visited your profile, since it is possible to view your stories without necessarily visiting your profile. Another feature is that you can see the viewers for 24 hours after the story is uploaded.

If you only want to know about your regular stalkers, this might work for you. Also, if you just want to know how many people are checking your profile, I mentioned how you can do the same in the next part.

Use Instagram analytics

If you’re using an Instagram Professional account, you’ll see an option called Understand. This allows you to see the number of people who visit your profile. On top of that, you’ll get additional features such as the ability to distinguish visitors from subscribers and non-subscribers, as well as demographic data.

You can also see how each of your posts is performing and even run ad campaigns for more reach.

To make your account professional:

  • Open Instagram and tap on your profile.
  • Tap the three-line icons in the top right corner.
  • Select “Settings”. Scroll down and see if you have the “Switch to a professional account”option. If yes, tap it, if not, follow the instructions.
  • Click Account.
  • Here, click “Switch to a professional account”.
  • On the new page, click Continue and review the professional account features.
  • Select a category for your account and click Done. If you have a private account, you will be warned that your account will be visible to everyone.
  • If you agree with this, click OK.
  • Select Creator or Business and add the required information to your account.

Note. You will only be able to view analytics data after it is activated, and you will not be able to see how many people have previously visited your profile.

Now that your account has been converted to a professional account, it’s time to check your stats. For this:

  • Go to your Instagram profile and tap on the three bars in the top right corner.
  • Click Get Statistics.

Here you will see all details like profile visitors. Other than that, you can also use Meta apps like Creator Studio or Business Suite to check the number of visitors.

Check who visited your Insta profile using Creator Studio/Business Suite

While you won’t know who visits your Instagram profile, apps like Creator Studio or Business Suite can help you find out how many people visit your profile each day. All you have to do is sign in with your Facebook ID associated with the Instagram page or account. You will see viewers in the Insights tab.

Note. To use these apps, your Instagram page or profile must be linked to a Facebook page and profile.

Make your Instagram account private

The best way to prevent snooping on your profile is to make your account private. That being said, even if they visit your account, you can be sure that they won’t see your story highlights, followers, next list, or posts. All you have to do is:

  • Open Instagram and tap on your profile.
  • Tap the three-line icon in the top right corner.
  • Select Settings.
  • Then click Privacy.
  • Turn on the privacy account.
  • Confirm by clicking Switch to private.

Note. If you are using a professional account, you will be prompted to switch back to a regular account to make your account private.

That’s all! Now no one except your subscribers will be able to see your profile and access its content.

FAQ

No. Instagram users will not be able to see how long a user has visited their profile. But if you view their story, they will get viewer information.
