After years of talks in Hollywood to make a biopic of Amy Winehouse, Studiocanal is gearing up to release Back to the Dark.
With the approval of the family and producers, the biopic Back to Black (the title of one of the best-selling albums in history) will detail the career of Amy Winehouse, who started as a jazz singer in north London, and then became a Grammy-winning music superstar, with titles such as, like “Stronger than Me”, “Rehabilitation”, and “Tears Dry on Their Own”. The British singer, songwriter and guitarist died in 2011 at the age of 27 after a long battle with alcohol and drugs.

Written by Matt Greenhalgh and directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. Studiocanal is producing Alison Owen and Debra Hayward along with Tracey Seaward. The search for actors will begin in the coming weeks.
