There have been rumors and rumors surrounding the PlayStation 5 Pro over the past few weeks, but Sony has yet to make any official comment regarding the new variant of the console. A new leak from Tom Henderson suggests that Sony may just be working on a new controller for the PlayStation 5, in many ways a “Pro”variant of the Dualsense.
Henderson writes that this new controller will include features such as detachable analog sticks, trigger limiters, and paddles with face buttons. He claims that Sony will be introducing these new “Pro”controllers soon.
He claims that photographs of the alleged prototype were provided on the condition that they not be published. It will be interesting to see if Sony decides to introduce these new controllers this month or if they delay the announcement until later this year.
Sony could unveil its new PlayStation 5 “Pro”controllers pretty soon
The report claims that the controller’s overall design matches the Dualsense, but contains features such as the aforementioned detachable analog sticks and paddles. The controller appears to include features that have become mainstream in the accessory space.
Xbox controllers have been generally more popular than Sony’s Dualshock controllers for quite some time now, but things seem to have changed quite a bit with the introduction of Dualsense. The Xbox has traditionally been able to gain an edge over Sony’s controllers with offerings such as the Xbox Elite, which includes features such as detachable analog sticks and paddles and allows users to further customize the controller experience.
It looks like Sony wants to get in on the action of the controller and give “Pro”users a variant of the standard Dualsense. This will be the first time Sony will offer a variant of its standard controllers.
