Twitter will host a developer conference in November, after a 7-year absence. What will it be about?
After a seven-year hiatus, Twitter is once again hosting a face-to-face developer conference. The company is resurrecting Chirp, see you in San Francisco November 16th. Chirp was the name of the very first developer conference held in 2010, but it was canceled a few years later. The company last hosted such a conference on Twitter Flight in 2015.

Since then, Twitter has had a rather rocky relationship with the developers. In 2018, the company made a number of changes to its API that were very unpopular with very little information. Customer third-party developers were particularly hard hit, quick to accuse the company of “hacking”their apps.
More recently, Twitter has tried to improve the situation. The platform launched a completely new version of its API in 2020 and introduced new tools to make the work of researchers easier. He also tested new features for developers, such as recommending certain third-party services in his own app.
What will it be about?
Today, no one knows exactly what will be discussed at this Chirp conference. The company explains in a blog post that there will be “keynotes, tech sessions, [and] opportunities to meet the Twitter Developer Platorm team to ask questions and meet other developers in our community.”The keynote will also be streamed live on Twitter for those unable to attend.
The timing of this announcement is also interesting when we know the uncertainty about the future of the company following Elon Musk’s takeover attempt. Company executives have made it clear on numerous occasions that it has no knowledge of Twitter’s multibillion-dollar intentions, and current CEO Parag Agrawal may not be around much longer if this deal comes to an end. On the other hand, Twitter’s developer tools could be an important source of revenue for the company, which remains a big priority for Elon Musk.
