After Tesla, SpaceX should accept some payments in Dogecoin

After Tesla, SpaceX should soon accept payments in Dogecoin, but this news seems to be less enthusiastic than in the case of Tesla.

Just four months after electric car maker Tesla began accepting Dogecoin (DOGE) payments for derivative products and some accessories, Elon Musk has announced he intends to do the same with his space exploration company SpaceX.

SpaceX expected to start accepting payments in Dogecoin soon

Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, has been actively supporting the DOGE ecosystem since 2019. The American multi-billionaire has repeatedly expressed interest in accepting payments with this memcoin at various of his companies.

Historically, Elon Musk’s tweets in support of DOGE immediately had a very positive impact on the coin’s value in the market as investors wanted to take advantage of the hype at that particular time. At the same time, the recent disclosure of SpaceX’s willingness to accept DOGE payments for certain derivatives did not have a significant impact on the value of the coin, since the cryptocurrency market trend is very pessimistic.

But the news seems to be less enthusiastic than in the case of Tesla.

Additionally, data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView shows that DOGE lost over 55% of its value between May 8 and May 13, trading at $0.08077 at the time of this writing.

In December 2021, DOGE added 25% after Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla would adopt DOGE for its products and accessories. Around the same time, the entrepreneur shared his opinion, claiming that DOGE is a better everyday payment option than bitcoin (BTC).

If everything goes according to plan now, Elon Musk might even start accepting DOGE payments for Starlink subscriptions.

The American multi-billionaire recently issued a public scam warning in which hackers used deepfake technology to exploit the image of an entrepreneur and promote a crypto scam. Elon Musk’s video, first posted on Twitter, promoted a crypto platform promising 30% returns on crypto deposits.
