Riot will analyze voice chats in Valorant

So, starting July 13, the studio will start collecting voice data from Valorant games in North America. According to Riot, its teams will use the data to train their AI model, which will “launch in beta later this year.”At the first stage, Riot explains that it will not use voice rating in bad behavior messages.

“We know that before we even think about expanding this tool, we need to be sure of its effectiveness, and if mistakes do happen, we have systems in place to ensure we can fix any false positives (or true negatives).” ‘, explains the studio.

to deal with bad players

Some players will probably freeze at the thought that Riot can listen in on their voice conversations, as they did with Vanguard, its anti-cheat software that uses a kernel-mode driver. But Riot say they see this voice assessment as a way to “gather clear evidence”against players who use their voice to insult and harass their teammates. The tool will allow the studio to have demonstrable evidence to provide to sanctioned players when they are rightfully challenging the sanctions.

“This is brand new technology and there will definitely be challenges […] but the potential for a safer and more inclusive environment for everyone who chooses to play is well worth it.”
