Sega decorates its Mega Drive Mini 2 with Sega CD games

Sega forms its Mega Drive Mini 2 with an optional Sega CD accessory.

Retrogaming is still clearly on the rise. Examples abound, cult games are very popular with gamers, young and old, and industry players are not shy about watering the market. A new example today is with Sega, which will give pride of place to its Mega Drive with the Mega Drive Mini 2.

Sega is styling its Mega Drive Mini 2

Sega will soon launch a new retro console on the market. The company has just announced the release of the Mega Drive Mini 2. If it’s only confirmed in Japan for now, it’s unlikely Sega won’t launch it in other markets. If and when it arrives in the United States, it will most certainly be called the Genesis Mini 2, but in France, if France has the right, it should be the Mega Drive Mini 2.

And the best part is that this Mega Drive Mini 2 will include Sega CD games among the 50 games on offer. The full list has not been revealed, but there will be Sonic the Hedgehog, Virtua Racing, and Shining Force CDs. Just like Fantasy Zone, a title that was never released on Mega Drive/Genesis. This is a game released on the Master System. However, the list may vary depending on the country.

In any case, Sega explains that the games were faithfully reproduced. And players can save their games whenever they want.

With optional Sega CD accessory

The Sega Mega Drive Mini 2 will go on sale in the Land of the Rising Sun on October 27th. It will be offered at a price of 9,980 yen (approximately 72 euros). Please note that Sega has decided to also offer a Sega CD accessory for their mini console. And with a spacer, you can install the Mega Drive Mini, which is also slightly larger than its successor. The Sega CD mini, if you can call it that, will cost 4,500 yen (32 euros).

The Sega Mega Drive Mini was a very successful console. With a very good selection of games that have been brilliantly emulated, and USB ports allow gamers to enjoy them with their favorite controllers. Hopefully Sega will offer a six-button version of their controller when the Mega Drive Mini 2 arrives outside of Japan.
