Michael Hirst would like to revive the Vikings series without the help of Netflix.
Invited to the Monte Carlo Television Festival, the Vikings creator said he was preparing a potential sequel after six seasons and 89 episodes: “I miss Ragnar and his sons. They are like friends. I lived with them for so long… Every morning when I went into my office, it was like I was going to find out what they were up to… So maybe we’ll see each other soon… I say so… But it’s possible! I’m currently considering a project with some of the returning characters…”

Michael Hirst does not want to link the story to the broadcast of the spin-off on the Netflix streaming platform: “We are really at the beginning of the project, so I can’t say more. .. But I know how much people love these characters and will love to see them again. .. I generally unrelated to Valhalla because showrunner Jeb Suart is an action writer. I’m more interested in the characters. So… I don’t watch the series… I don’t need to. I don’t want to hurt myself… I didn’t participate much in the project and I watch quite a lot of shows… I, I’m done. I made my saga. And then they do whatever they want.”
Fans love Vikings, Michael Hirst touched
The endless enthusiasm for the Vikings license surprised Michael Hirst: “It’s great that people are still so passionate about it. When I arrived in Lille for the Series Mania festival last March, I was followed in the streets by a crowd of people! This is the first time this has happened to me! I didn’t understand why, I said “I’m just the author of the series that you know”, and they answered me: “No, no, you are Mr. Vikings.” After all, it’s still a living thing.”The Briton is also pleased with the end of last season: “Two old gentlemen talking, sitting on the beach, talking about existentialism. .. Oh yes!”
