BioLite introduces two new portable charging stations and a solar panel system.
After years of offering a variety of camping, cooking and portable charger accessories, BioLite now offers even more reliable and advanced solutions. The company just announced the BaseCharge 600 and BaseCharge 1500 portable charging stations, as well as the SolarPanel 100. Ideal if you need electricity away from any civilization or when the electricity is turned off at home.
BioLite Introduces Two New Portable Charging Stations
Both charging stations have an LCD screen to display a range of useful information. It is advisable to recharge them at least once every six months. Each station also has a durable hard plastic case with rubber feet and hand grips as they are quite heavy. Please note that if they can be transported, they do not have an IP certificate, so keep them out of the rain.
The BaseCharge 600 ($699) features a 622Wh lithium-ion battery with three inputs – a combo outlet and solar charger, and a USB-C PD port. Allow 7 hours to charge from wall outlet, 3.5 hours from wall outlet and USB-C PD, and 6 hours from SolarPanel 100 in direct sunlight. All for a weight of 6 kg and dimensions of 30.5 x 18 x 18 cm. In terms of outputs, there are 10: 2 x 110 VAC (up to 1000 W), 1 x Qi (wireless) (10 W), 2 x 12 DC (120W), 1 x cigarette lighter (12V, 120W), 2x USB-A (5V), 1x USB-C (5V), 1x USB-C PD (5V, 100 W).
The BaseCharge 1500 is bigger, heavier and more expensive. $1,699, 1521 Wh capacity and same inputs as BaseCharge 600. 13.5 hours charging with wall charger, 8 hours with wall outlet and USB-C PD combo, and 4 hours in direct sunlight if you have 4 SolarPanel 100 panels. The SolarPanel 100 ($400) offers four solar panels that deliver 100W of power output in direct sunlight. Up to 4 SolarPanel 100s can be combined to quadruple the electrical output. These panels are IPX4 certified, which is enough to withstand light rain. There is no built-in battery, but you can charge two devices directly from the panels via two USB-A ports and a USB-C PD port.
All panels fold into a 20 x 14 x 1 inch rectangle with a 4 pound handle. There is also a zippered pocket for cables. When unfolded, the solar surface is 50.8 x 145 cm. The “optimum solar system”is the same as previous BioLite solar panels, with a small target and a white area to measure the angle of the sun from its shadow.
