Purple is the new pink (and blue), says another iPhone 14 rumor

Apple may replace the pink color with a new dark purple variant of the iPhone 14, while the Sierra Blue color scheme will be replaced with a deep purple one.

  • What is happening? Apple leaker “yeux1122″learned from a “US developer source”that Apple will drop the pink and Sierra Blue color options from the iPhone 14 lineup this year, replacing them with shades of purple.
  • Why care? Because the colors are breathtaking and we’ve never had a pink iPhone. And if the rumors are true, that purple should only be visible at certain angles.
  • What to do? Visualize your favorite color as you consider whether it will work for your next iPhone.

iPhone 14: purple is the new pink

Specifically, Apple is rumored to be dropping the Sierra Blue color option from its existing iPhone 13 Pro lineup and replacing it with a dark purple version. Basically, “yeux1122″appears to confirm earlier information from Twitter user @Jioriku, who has also shared accurate preliminary information in the past.

The iPhone 14 Pro dummy video that we included right away helps visualize the new color, which only becomes fully visible at certain angles.

The effect is similar to the dark shade of green on the legendary Nokia 7110 (from the first Matrix movie), which also only appears at certain angles.

How durable will the iPhone 14 be?

There won’t be a more durable titanium model because Apple has apparently decided to drop it due to “cost and manufacturing process issues.”

As with the current iPhone 13 family, all iPhone 14 models are expected to use Apple’s ceramic shield on the front and Corning’s Gorilla Glass to protect the back. And finally, “yeux1122″says we can expect stronger MagSafe magnets, which will make using MagSafe accessories even safer than before.

iPhone 14 Pro: Dark Purple is the New Blue

The same insider claims that Apple will also be replacing the Sierra Blue color option that the company originally introduced with the iPhone 13 Pro in 2021 with a dark purple one. Apple offers the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini in six color options: Green, Pink, Blue, Midnight, Starlight, and PRODUCT (RED).

As for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, these devices are currently offered in colors named by Apple: Alpine Green, Silver, Gold, Graphite and Sierra Blue.

Colorful lineup

Not too long ago, iPhone colors were limited to silver, PRODUCT(RED), and various black color options. The iPhone is currently offered in several attractive colors. Apple sometimes takes advantage of this phenomenon by releasing a new color in the middle of the iPhone’s production cycle. The iPhone 13 is a good example of this. Even though the iPhone 13 family was originally launched in September 2021, Apple waited six months before introducing a green color variant in March 2022.
