Rogue One Returns to US IMAX Theaters Ahead of Andor’s Disney+ Debut

Rogue One will return to IMAX theaters in the United States, with an exclusive preview of Andor coming soon after.

Ahead of the launch of the big Andor series on September 21st, Disney has decided to bring its Rogue One: A Star Wars Story movie back to dark theaters. The 2016 film will once again be available in IMAX theaters across the US starting August 26, along with an “exclusive preview”of the highly anticipated new series. The details of this “quick look”are slim, probably something to be expected in the expansion of Andor’s most recent trailer, released by Disney on August 1st. Either way, this new Rogue One theatrical release will give Star Wars fans a chance to rewatch the film before Diego Luna reprises his role as Cassian Andor.

Five years before the events of Rogue One, which itself is a prequel to Star Wars. Episode IV: A New Hope, Andor tells how the uprising began. Disney presents its series as a spy thriller. As for Andor, Diego Luna isn’t the only actor back on the license. Genevieve O’Reilly and Forest Whitaker will reprise their roles as Mon Mothma and Saw Gerrera, respectively. The series was originally scheduled to launch on August 31, but Disney made the decision to push back the release slightly to give She-Hulk: Lawyer a little more time to find its audience. The first three episodes of Andor will be offered at the same time, and the following episodes will appear one after the other every Wednesday.

Rogue One is considered one of the best films of the entire Disney Star Wars era. The film brought in over $1 billion in revenue during its first theatrical release and even won two Oscars. Otherwise, Rogue One is still available on Disney+.
