Hangar 13 confirms the development of Mafia 4.

In an interview marking the 20th anniversary of the Mafia franchise, American studio Hangar 13 has formalized the development of a new opus about the middle of the Italian underworld in the open world, but already claims it will have to wait a few years before seeing it in action.

Roman Hladik, managing director of Hangar 13, says:

I am glad to announce that we have started work on a brand new Mafia project! While it will be a few more years and we can’t say more now, we’re excited to continue working on this franchise we love and bring brand new stories to our players.

Mafia 4, prequel to license?

According to Kotaku sources, Hangar 13’s New Mafia will be a prequel. His codename is Nero. It is developed using Unreal Engine 5, as opposed to the Mafia 3 graphics engine used for the 2020 remasters of the Mafia trilogy. This information, incidentally, comes after a difficult year for Hangar 13, when maintainer Hayden Blackman stepped down and was replaced by Brighton affiliate manager Nick Baines.

Last November, it was reported that 2K Games had canceled the new game Hangar 13. The project, codenamed Volt, has been in development in various forms since 2017 and is positioned as an open-world sci-fi game with supernatural elements. It was about the meeting of Cthulhu and Saints Row.
