2K Sports is introducing new WNBA-related features to NBA 2K23’s W Mode exclusively for the next generation.
Much to the delight of WNBA fans (the women’s equivalent of the NBA), players will have the option to add two franchises to the league in The W mode in NBA 2K23. With full customization, players can either create a new team or resurrect a defunct franchise from the dead. In addition, NBA 2K23’s MyPlayer mode added Contact Challenges, in which players are instructed by WNBA players, coaches, and legends to complete certain objectives to earn player bonuses. WNBA content will also be integrated into other aspects of NBA 2K23. Users will be able to collect jerseys, logos, and coach cards in MyTeam, rewards that can only be obtained through The W.

The WNBA is growing and developing rapidly, and we will also try to expand the possibilities of W mode to give WNBA fans more opportunities to experience it. This year, The W brings players an even more authentic WNBA experience, from choosing how the league grows to taking the community to new heights.
W mode and its characteristics
- All for the Community: Each season will have six weekly goals for the community to complete collectively. If the community manages to reach the common goal in four of the six weeks of the season, everyone who saves NBA 2K23’s life will receive a reward.
- League Growth: As you progress through The W to the league’s max popularity level of 10, you’ll unlock two slots for expansion teams, allowing you to control the league’s development. Choose your city, build your gym, design your logo and design your uniform.
- W Rewards: New content and great rewards, including WNBA jerseys, the Coach MyTEAM logo and cards, will be available exclusively on The W Online. Players will be able to proudly display their t-shirts, new legendary gear and more in The W and The City.
- Game Changer: Community members who put in a huge amount of time and effort towards a collective goal will earn the status of Game Changer. Game changers will have exclusive access to rewards such as Team Takeover Boosts, as well as the ability to boost other The W Online players with Player Boosts.
- Contact Challenges: As you progress through the mode and make contacts, they will challenge you. These tasks allow you to bookmark specific matches on the schedule, team up with new players in contact training, achieve statistics goals for the entire season, and improve your game.
- All-Star Game and Commissioner’s Cup: For the first time in The W, players will now have the opportunity to join an All-Star team and compete in the All-Star Game as well as the Commissioner’s Cup.
